Clarissa E. Harrell

Clarissa E. Harrell - Working in conjunction with her New York colleagues, Clarissa Harrell handles civil litigation, family law, and other legal matters for the firm’s clients who reside or have legal interests in the state of Florida. She is not admitted to practice law in the State of New York.   Although she is based primarily in Viera, near Kennedy Space Center on Florida’s east coast, Clarissa also works out of the firm’s Boca Raton office and has handled cases from Orlando to Miami.  She has developed strong experience in a wide range of cases, including contract disputes, construction litigation, business torts, injunctions, child custody and visitation matters, child support, paternity, modifications of final judgments, step-parent adoptions, replevin, landlord-tenant disputes, and juvenile dependency.  Clarissa began her litigation career as a state prosecutor, handling hundreds of criminal cases and trials.  She ascended to the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit and was recognized with “Domestic Violence Prosecution” and “Attorney of the Year” commendations.  She thereafter entered private practice, developed skills in complex business and divorce litigation, and was admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.  Clarissa presently serves as President-Elect of the Brevard Bar Foundation, a charitable organization; is a former President of the Brevard County Bar Association; served on the Legal Advisory Board of a legal-magnet high school; and has been a Barrister in the Vassar B. Carlton Inn of Court.  She has enjoyed teaching during her career, taking a high school mock trial team all the way to state-level competition for several years, and serving as an adjunct legal studies professor for the University of Central Florida and Brevard Community College.  She has embarked on a new project as a Team Leader for Florida’s Justice Teaching Program led by Florida Supreme Court Justice Fred Lewis.  Other favorite community projects include her work on the Brevard Ballet Theater Board of Directors and support of her local Little League, football, cheerleading, and Galmont Ballet programs.  Clarissa earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and her law degree from Tulane Law School in New Orleans, where she was admitted to the Order of Barristers and was on the Moot Court Board.
